In April 2015, Deputy Laursen was implicated in a lawsuit filed by plaintiff Pierce, who alleged that Laursen and Deputy James Harris used excessive force during an arrest. Pierce claimed that Laursen dragged him out of his vehicle through the passenger side window, threw him to the ground, and kicked him while he was handcuffed. The lawsuit also alleged inadequate medical care following the incident. The court dismissed some claims but allowed others to proceed, indicating ongoing litigation concerning Laursen’s actions during the arrest.
