Captain Donald Essig – Somerset County Sheriff’s Office

In January 2023, Captain Essig allegedly groped Officer Kristen Delacruz under the pretense of checking if she was wearing a vest. This incident led to a lawsuit filed by Delacruz in May 2024, accusing Essig of sexual harassment and assault. The lawsuit also claims that Essig retaliated against Delacruz for reporting the incident by creating a hostile work environment. The case is currently pending in Somerset County Superior Court.
