In 2017, Deputy Brian Nelson, along with other officers, permitted an impaired driver, Kenneth Kennedy, to continue driving despite clear signs of intoxication. This decision resulted in a fatal head-on collision that killed three people. Nelson was aware of Kennedy’s impairment and, along with others, failed to prevent him from driving, leading to allegations of deliberate indifference to public safety.
