In 2010, Deputy Braxton was involved in a lawsuit alleging violation of the Fourth Amendment rights of a motorist, Mr. Watty. The case, Watty v. Sheriff of Clarendon County, involved a traffic stop where Braxton extended the stop into an investigatory detention without reasonable suspicion. The court found that the facts surrounding the stop were hotly contested, and the case proceeded to address the alleged constitutional violations.
