In November 2023, Officer Hatchett was involved in a head-on collision while off-duty, resulting in injuries to two young women. Madison Police officers at the scene suspected intoxication, but allowed Hatchett to leave without conducting a breath test. He was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road and having an open container. Additionally, in February 2023, Hatchett received a written reprimand for failing to follow proper procedure after a drug arrest, which led to the suspect’s release and potential civil liability for the city.
