In 2009, Lieutenant James Langler was found guilty of multiple disciplinary charges, including altering a departmental shift schedule in retaliation for political reasons. The Appellate Division, Fourth Department, annulled the determination regarding one charge due to lack of substantial evidence but confirmed the remaining charges. The case was remitted to the County of Cayuga for imposition of an appropriate penalty on the remaining charges.
