In 2013, Deputy Sheriff John Stalter was charged with misconduct for failing to follow direct orders, including maintaining contact with a fellow officer against explicit instructions. He was suspended without pay for 120 days and agreed to a ‘Last Chance Agreement’ stipulating termination for similar future conduct. In 2014, after a vehicle collision deemed reckless, he faced additional disciplinary charges and resigned from his position on July 30, 2014.
