    Sergeant Christopher Caufield was named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by Kenneth Raymond Ortiz in October 2020. The lawsuit alleged civil rights violations, including excessive force and misconduct by Caufield and other officers. The case was filed in the US District Court for the Western District of New York and was ongoing as of April 2022.
