Deputy William Klein participated in the July 2011 arrest of Philip Romanek, during which Sergeant Browndorf used excessive force. Klein did not report the misconduct. In March 2012, Klein was terminated for failing to report the incident. Klein claimed his termination was retaliatory, citing his prior complaints about departmental practices and his grand jury testimony regarding the incident.
