On April 13, 2018, a sergeant at the Erie County Holding Center broke the jaw of an inmate while attempting to remove an object from the inmate’s mouth and conducting a strip search. The inmate later alleged sexual assault. The Sheriff’s Office failed to report this incident promptly and omitted details of the strip search in their report.
