Chief Deputy Brandon Bryan was indicted in March 2025 on several felony charges, including abuse of public trust, theft by deception, and forgery. The charges stemmed from allegations that Bryan illegally sold vehicles seized by the sheriff’s office to unauthorized buyers at below-market prices, bypassing the required public auction process. Additionally, when a buyer discovered drugs inside one of the sold vehicles, Bryan reportedly instructed them to dispose of the substances improperly. These actions were reported by fellow deputies, leading to a whistleblower lawsuit and subsequent criminal charges against Bryan.
