In 2018, Deputy Jailer Derek Steven Clark placed an inmate into a restraint chair and directed another inmate to assault him, resulting in bodily injury. Clark then falsified an incident report to cover up the assault. He was convicted on July 24, 2020, of two counts of civil rights violations and one count of making a false entry in a record. He faced a maximum of 10 years for each civil rights violation and 20 years for the false entry charge.
