Jerry Melton – Russell County Sheriff’s Office

In March 2021, deputy Jerry Melton was named in a federal lawsuit by Rebecca England, alleging intimidation and failure to investigate a sexual assault complaint against another deputy. England claimed Melton threatened her with perjury charges if she filed a formal complaint and failed to act on her allegations. The lawsuit sought damages for violations of constitutional rights.
