In 2017, Deputy Richard ‘Rico’ Wiseman arrested Kayla Danielle Langley after she called for assistance to remove a person from her home. Despite Langley’s protests and demands to see the warrant, Wiseman proceeded with the arrest. En route to jail, Wiseman acknowledged to Deputy Blair Fontenot that they might have arrested the wrong person. Fontenot instructed to continue holding her. Langley was detained for several hours before release. A federal lawsuit was filed against Wiseman and other deputies, alleging violations of constitutional rights and inadequate training. Langley now suffers from depression and other mental health conditions due to the incident.
