Susan Hutson – Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office

In October 2023, former Chief Financial Officer David Trautenberg filed a federal lawsuit against Sheriff Hutson, alleging wrongful termination in retaliation for objecting to the misuse of public funds. The lawsuit claims Hutson fired Trautenberg after he opposed the use of nearly $19,000 for hotel rooms during Mardi Gras 2023, which were allegedly not used by OPSO personnel. The suit also alleges Hutson engaged in a romantic relationship with a subordinate, Assistant Sheriff Kristen Morales.
