On March 10, 2022, a Cypress Lake High School student was arrested by the school’s resource officer (SRO) following a horseplay incident. The SRO arrested the student without informing the school or the student’s parents. The student’s family filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Carmine Marceno and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, alleging improper arrest procedures and lack of communication.
