In February 2023, Deputy Sam Quincey participated in the arrest of John Reeve on a bench warrant. During the incident, Quincey and his partner confiscated the phone of a woman recording the arrest, leading to allegations of First Amendment rights violations. After the video surfaced in September 2023, Quincey was suspended with pay pending an internal affairs investigation.
