Former Sergeant James Darrell Hickox was arrested by the FBI on March 10, 2023, and charged with possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, including cocaine, MDMA, and over 40 grams of fentanyl. Hickox, who served as a DEA Task Force Officer from March 2014 to September 2022, was found to have stolen money and illegal drugs from evidence during criminal investigations. He provided these drugs for distribution and concealed over $420,000 from the IRS. On January 27, 2025, Hickox was sentenced to 17.5 years in federal prison. His actions led to the dismissal of charges in cases where he was a key witness, including the case of Diamonds Ford, who was charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
