    In 2007, Captain Steve Coronado was implicated in allegations of illegal phone recording within the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department. It was reported that Coronado discussed installing recording devices on telephones with a Verizon employee, leading to the installation of black boxes on certain phones without employees’ knowledge. Investigations revealed that some lines were recorded, but the district attorney concluded that no illegal activity occurred, and the case was closed.
