    In July 2022, Sergeant Penzkover made an ‘OK’ hand gesture in a group photo at the Country Boom festival, which was posted on the sheriff’s Facebook page. The gesture, associated by some with white supremacist symbolism, led to public criticism. An external investigation concluded that Penzkover did not have racist intentions but violated department policy. He was disciplined, though specific details of the disciplinary action were not disclosed.
