Former Deputy Gerardo Baca, 36, was charged on March 2, 2022, with 19 felonies, including multiple counts of second and third-degree sexual assault, stemming from incidents between 2011 and 2021. The victims, including interns and co-workers, reported assaults occurring at Baca’s residence in Delavan, often when they were incapacitated by alcohol. Some victims were threatened to remain silent. Evidence includes video recordings of the assaults and incriminating text messages. Baca resigned from the Sheriff’s Office on March 4, 2022, following his arrest.
