Former Sheriff Bob Colbert was indicted in March 2016 on charges of bribery and extortion. He and Deputy Jeffrey Gragg were accused of taking $10,000 from two individuals in exchange for not pursuing drug charges. The cash was placed in the sheriff’s drug forfeiture account. Colbert resigned following the indictment. In January 2017, a judge dismissed one of the charges against him, but he still faced trial on the remaining bribery charges.
