In late November 2011, Chief Christopher Free allegedly attempted to grab Officer Pipes’s genitals during a football victory celebration. In early December 2011, he reportedly thumped Officer Pipes in the crotch and inserted his finger into Officer Pipes’s rectum during a breakfast gathering. These incidents led to a lawsuit filed by Officer Pipes against the City of Falkville, alleging sexual harassment. The court found that while the conduct was offensive, it did not constitute discrimination based on sex under Title VII, resulting in a summary judgment in favor of the City.
