On July 1, 2013, Officer McCall responded to a domestic dispute at a residence. Upon arrival, he encountered Travis Thigpen, who was unarmed and complying with orders. Despite this, McCall shot Thigpen in the arm, causing severe injuries. Thigpen was later acquitted of all charges related to the incident. A civil lawsuit resulted in a $450,000 settlement for Thigpen. McCall was subsequently terminated from his position.
