In April 2017, Lieutenant Gentry was involved in an incident where inmate Kyle Wallace’s cell was flooded with contaminated water from another inmate’s cell. Gentry allegedly failed to address the unsanitary conditions promptly, resulting in Wallace being exposed to the contaminated water for approximately 75 to 78 hours. Wallace filed a lawsuit alleging deliberate indifference to his health and safety. The court granted summary judgment in favor of the county, but the case highlighted concerns about the management of inmate welfare under Gentry’s supervision.
