    In October 2024, Police Chief Anthony Fields was named as a defendant in a federal lawsuit filed by City Councilor Matt Tortorice. The lawsuit alleges that Fields violated Tortorice’s First Amendment rights by enforcing a ban on recording public city council meetings, leading to Tortorice being escorted out of a meeting for recording. The ban was later lifted, but the lawsuit claims that Tortorice’s rights had already been violated. Fields has not publicly commented on the lawsuit, stating he would wait until consulting with a lawyer.
