In May 2017, while on duty, Sergeant Nicholas Shane Osborne, aged 39, met a 15-year-old boy through the Grindr app. He drove the minor in his police cruiser to a church parking lot, where he engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with the boy. Osborne was arrested in 2017 and pleaded guilty in March 2019 to charges including electronic solicitation of a child, sodomy in the second degree, reckless endangerment, and enticing a child for immoral purposes. In March 2019, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
