In May 2024, Officer Jerry Cannon was arrested and subsequently fired for abusing his position. He was charged with using his position for personal gain, a felony, and misuse of confidential information, a misdemeanor. Cannon allegedly used police equipment to access confidential information and leaked private details, including warning residents about impending search warrants. Additionally, he admitted to purchasing marijuana while on duty in a patrol vehicle and receiving payment for the drugs. Further charges were pending at the time of his arrest.
