On May 24, 2024, Sergeant Joseph Miller, a 14-year veteran of the Alaska State Troopers, was involved in the arrest of a man on the Kenai Peninsula. Miller broke a rear window of the suspect’s vehicle and dispensed pepper spray inside. After the suspect exited, Miller placed his boot on the man’s head, pushing it into broken glass, and deployed his Taser multiple times. The suspect was later found to have no active warrant. Miller was charged with one count of Assault in the Fourth Degree on August 14, 2024.
