Officer Anthony – Prichard Police Department[25]

On September 19, 2019, Officer Anthony and three unidentified officers arrested an individual for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and a traffic violation. The arrestee alleged that the officers illegally seized his lawfully possessed handgun and ammunition, withheld the property for over a year and a half after the charges were dismissed, and physically assaulted him, exacerbating a pre-existing neck injury. The individual filed a lawsuit against Officer Anthony and the City of Prichard, claiming violations of his constitutional rights, including unlawful search and seizure, excessive force, and due process violations. The case is documented in Anderson v. City of Prichard, Civil Action 21-00388-B.
