In August 2021, Sergeant David James confronted Karl Williams, who was filming police activity from approximately 15 feet away. James reportedly told Williams he would ‘do whatever the fuck I want’ and grabbed Williams’ neck, leading to Williams being thrown to the ground and arrested. The officers allegedly deleted Williams’ video and charged him with multiple offenses. The charges were later dropped, and Williams filed a lawsuit against the city for false arrest and malicious prosecution.
