On June 7, 2023, Officer Graybeal was involved in the arrest of David Adams, a man with developmental disabilities. During the incident, officers used unprofessional language, including derogatory terms, and applied excessive force by repeatedly tasering Adams. An internal investigation found that officers violated department policies regarding language and issued letters of counseling. No formal disciplinary action was taken beyond this. A federal civil rights lawsuit alleging excessive force and other claims was filed against the city and involved officers.
