Former Police Chief Rod Mendoza resigned in January 2014 following allegations of misconduct, including tampering with physical evidence. An investigation revealed that Mendoza altered emails related to an alleged inappropriate relationship with Lorrie Thompson, the wife of a Parker police officer. The altered emails were presented as evidence in a court of law. Additionally, Mendoza was accused of pursuing a romantic relationship with Thompson, including an incident where he allegedly kissed her on the lips in his office on June 5, 2013. The investigation concluded that his actions were unprofessional, unethical, and unbecoming of a chief law enforcement officer. A felony charge for tampering with physical evidence was recommended against Mendoza.
