Officer Overton was involved in multiple incidents of misconduct during his tenure from 2006 to 2019. Notably, in May 2019, he falsely reported being shot at while on duty, leading to an internal investigation that found six policy violations, including willful neglect of duty. Prior to this, he had six police car crashes, was accused of sexual harassment of a co-worker, mishandled DUI investigations, failed to follow procedure in a domestic violence case, and refused to respond to a call at a mental health facility. Facing termination, Overton resigned in lieu of firing.
