In November 2022, Aaron Mitchell, a CBP officer, was indicted on charges including a civil rights violation for sexually assaulting and kidnapping a 15-year-old girl in Arizona. On April 25, 2022, Mitchell, wearing police attire, allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted the minor while she was on her way to school. During an in-custody interview, Mitchell was recorded making threatening remarks about the victim. At the time of his arrest, Mitchell had served as a CBP officer for 10 months.
