Former Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety officer David Lubahn was on duty when he conducted an illegal search and seizure during a 2019 incident. He then filed a police report and warrant affidavit containing false and misleading statements about his actions, an incident that was recorded on his body camera. After an investigation by the Michigan Attorney General, Lubahn was charged in September 2020 with perjury of a record (a 15-year felony) and misconduct in office (a 5-year felony). Lubahn was fired once charges were filed, and in March 2021 he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of lying to a peace officer. As part of his plea, he forfeited his Michigan law enforcement certification and was permanently barred from serving as a police officer in the state.
