Springfield police officer Leon Davis was caught on body camera using excessive force on a pregnant woman during a September 2020 arrest at a hotel. Despite the woman’s surrender and her telling him she was pregnant, Davis deployed his Taser on her multiple times. He was charged with multiple counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (including against a pregnant victim), was removed from active duty, and had his certification suspended by the POST Commission while the criminal case is pending.
