Jeffrey Augustin – New York City Police Department

NYPD Officer arrested in Nov. 2017 on Staten Island for allegedly choking his wife and threatening to kill her during a dispute over money. The criminal case was sealed, but an internal NYPD review in 2019 substantiated that he committed two assaults and made a harassing phone call. Augustin was suspended 13 days without pay, ordered to attend counseling, and placed on dismissal probation for one year. He remains on the force and has since returned to full duty at the 84th Precinct, despite the domestic violence findings.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
