Alan Hanks – Fairfax County Police Department

In 2015, Fairfax County Police Officer Alan Hanks deployed a Taser against 37-year-old Elton Cansler, a disabled man, during an arrest that bystanders caught on video. Fairfax County’s police chief deemed the force justified under department policy, and Hanks did not face discipline; Cansler later filed a civil rights lawsuit alleging excessive force by Hanks.
