In April 2017, Officer Alexander Paul allegedly used excessive force against Raymond Purcell, a 62-year-old man. Paul reportedly hit Purcell with the butt of his gun, slammed him to the ground, and pulled his arms forcefully, resulting in injury. Paul then allegedly punched Purcell in the face, knocking out his partial dentures. An internal affairs investigation exonerated Paul, but Purcell filed a lawsuit seeking damages.
