Anthony Fields – Margaret Police Department[23]

In July 2024, Police Chief Anthony Fields was named as a defendant in a federal lawsuit filed by City Councilor Matt Tortorice. The lawsuit alleges that Fields violated Tortorice’s First Amendment rights by enforcing a ban on recording public city council meetings. The ban was implemented in July 2024 and later lifted, but the lawsuit claims that the initial enforcement constituted a civil rights violation. The case is pending, and Fields has not publicly commented on the lawsuit as of October 2024.
