In February 2017, Assistant Police Chief Brian J. Gould was suspended for two days following an incident where he struck a handcuffed offender who had spit in his face during a transfer to a cell block. The department advised that striking handcuffed offenders is prohibited except in extreme situations. In 2014, Gould received another two-day suspension for a social media violation after posting a comment about the town’s Fourth of July event, which was viewed negatively by the Town Board.
