Former Captain Brian Wasson admitted to stealing and using fentanyl from the department’s evidence room over a period of nearly two years, leading to his resignation in September 2023. He pleaded guilty to two felony counts of theft by unlawful taking in excess of $5,000 and was sentenced to 40 to 68 months in prison, along with an order to pay $7,000 in restitution to the department.
