Former Undersheriff Carole Lepiane was sentenced to six months in federal prison for embezzling over $67,000 in public funds. The investigation, initiated prior to 2011, revealed that Lepiane acted alone in misappropriating these funds. The stolen money was fully recovered, and the case was handled by the FBI, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Washington State Patrol, and Washington State Auditor’s Office.
