In May 2024, Deputy Chase McDaniel was deposed in a lawsuit brought by former law enforcement officer Daniel Barnett. The lawsuit claims that McDaniel, along with two other deputies, conspired to submit false reports and withhold evidence, resulting in Barnett’s wrongful termination. The alleged fabrication of evidence in a high-profile case led to substantial personal and professional harm to Barnett.
