In August 2024, Deputy Christopher T. Ryan was arrested and charged with malfeasance in office and introducing contraband into a penal institution. Ryan, who had been with the department for one year as a correctional deputy, was terminated following his arrest. Sheriff Stitch Guillory emphasized the department’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and stated that criminal activity compromising the safety and security of the facility would not be tolerated.
