In March 2022, Officer Stayton was terminated after an investigation revealed he maintained pornographic images of a 17-year-old student on his phone while serving as a school resource officer at Stratford High School. He pleaded guilty to misconduct in office, agreed to relinquish his law enforcement certification, and faced a civil lawsuit filed by the victim’s parents alleging negligence and recklessness.
