In January 2023, Corrections Deputy David Garcia was terminated after striking both an inmate and his supervisor in separate incidents. Following his termination, an investigation revealed Garcia had been involved in smuggling contraband, including drugs and cigarettes, into the county jail for inmates. He faces multiple felony charges, including battery and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.
