Dawson Dyer – Charleston Police Department

Former officer Dawson Dyer, 24, faced multiple off-duty violations during his tenure from 2021 to 2023. In October 2022, he was observed driving at excessive speeds in Goose Creek, resulting in verbal counseling. In July 2023, Dyer purchased ecstasy pills while off-duty and called on-duty officers to arrest the seller, violating policies on unbecoming conduct and unauthorized operations, leading to a two-day suspension. In October 2023, after calling in sick, he was found at a bar and exhibited vulgar behavior towards responding officers, resulting in a six-day suspension. In November 2023, during a traffic stop, Dyer failed to deescalate a situation and was found to have violated courtesy policies. His employment was terminated in December 2023 following a DUI charge after crashing his patrol car into another vehicle, injuring three people. Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Violation of these rules will result in immediate content removal and possible account suspension.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
