In July 2023, Deputy Alexander Roney allegedly entered the backyard of Bradley Crannell and Michael Lloyd in Ballston Spa without identifying himself and used a Taser on both men. The men filed a lawsuit in August 2024, claiming excessive force and violations of their Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights. The lawsuit alleges that Roney’s actions caused serious physical injuries and emotional trauma.
